Served with the 1/16th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Div. and 5/60th, 9th Infantry Div. '68-'69 as an RTO. Hardly ever even knew there was radio or TV while there because we basically lived in the field.....rarely hit home base if at all so I can't say too many songs reminded me of Nam only a very few.

Welcome Home to my fellow vets...well done!

I was K-9 at Plieku Air Field 67-68 we did not get a lot of time to listen to the radio, we worked 12 hour shifts always at night, all night walking the fence line, with our dogs. Some times in the morning we had radio to listen too, before we hit the sack around 8-9 in the morning we would try to get some sleep in the heat of the day, so we could get some rest before we would get ready to go back out on the fence at night again. It was a rough way to live....a year or longer with little real sleep or rest, always alert and on the perimeter. Thanks for this web site...love the tunes and the memories they bring. Be Blessed All and Welcome Back.......We made it ! Sonny

(325) Flew C7 Caribou out of Vung Tau AAF, 1969-1970. Also flew KC135s in an around SEA from more places than I care to remember from 1968 to 1975 when it ended.

Jon Hansen Wednesday, 2 March 2016 19:45
Chances are I hitched a ride with you on a Caribou. Did some courier runs for my company and support command to Saigon & Long Binh during all of 69. On one flight, we just lifted off the runway and headed out over the harbor when the left engine erupted in flames. The pilot did one heck of a job circling back to the field and putting her down safely. I often made return runs with some twin engine 5 seaters operated by some outfit called Air America.

Wish this station was this loud & clear in 65. We had to get up to 5000' just to get a weak signal. Carmen Rowe, CC 119th AHC, Camp Holloway, Pleiku, 11/64-4/66
